New projects

October 16th 2020

GLR is pleased to announce that it was awarded two new projects from Hydro-Québec.

Replacement of insulators in Charlevoix

GLR will replace 735kV isolators on circuit 7023, in the Charlevoix region. The works will affect 119 pylons supporting high voltage overhead lines, spread over 49.35 km. The project began last September and will be completed in November 2020.

Micoua-Saguenay clearing work

GLR was awarded the contract for the construction of the access roads and the clearing work of sections 5 and 6 of the right-of-way for the future Micoua-Saguenay line. This contract is entirely subcontracted, a new experience for GLR. The new transmission line is required due to the increased power flow along the lines of the Manic-Québec corridor towards the major load centres. The section-5 works will be carried out on public lands of the MRC de La Haute-Côte-Nord and will extend over a distance of approximately 30 km. As for section 6, the works will be spread over 32.7 km located on public lands, in the Le-Fjord-du-Saguenay and La Haute-Côte-Nord MRCs. The project began in late August 2020 and will end in September 2021.

Congratulations to the GLR teams!
